I am in no way a proponent of the ridiculous laws we have as a nation that put drug abusers in prison with rapist and murderers, but today we have been shown another case that amplifies the gap between the halfs and the have-nots. You may remember a few weeks back when actor Gary Dourdan was found high and passed out with drugs all around him in a car outside of a hotel. He was found with cocaine, Heroin and ecstasy. Today he walked out of court with 30 hours of rehabilitation service to be served. --
"Once Gary completes 30 hours of a diversion program, his case will be entirely dismissed," lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley told The Associated Press in an e-mail. "There is no jail time involved." Huffingtonpost
Personally I think celebrities do this on purpose every time their career gets in a bit of trouble. The bad boy/girl mug shot image along with "I have a drug problem" goes a long way in Hollywood. It always seems to get them another TV or movie. Had this been the average Joe/Jane, Joe/Jane would be sitting in prison right now next to Bubba the killer.
