When I was working on a movie last year in the Bahamas, FOOL'S GOLD happened to be shooting in the same place. When talking to crew and finding out who was in it and seeing some of the stuff they were shooting, the movie looked like it would be cool. Then it came out and I saw it.  Could it be anymore unoriginal and trite! And now many times do we have to see MATTHEW McCONAUGHEY run around a movie without his shirt. We get it, he's tan and has a six pack, and oh, he already did this movie before, only it was called Sahara.

So who doesn't like a treasure finding movie with a hot chick in it? But even KATE HUDSON'S sex appeal couldn't bring out the fun loving adventure you thought you were going to get, at least not for me. The movie wasn't a complete disaster, it did have some cool shots and fun moments and very shallow comedy than came up from time to time. The most notable one is probably where Hudson knocks out McConaughey. Even I laughed at one. But still, I was rather bored and un-entertained. I guess I was expecting much more from this film, a mistake I often have when seeing movies. I suppose I'm just too critical with movies like this. Where no thought is required in a light-hearted comedy adventures like this and you take what you see with a grain of salt and say, "That could never happen, but whatever, it's fun and I'm laughing at it". I wish I could do that, but I can't. These type of movies don't do anything for me and I find them hard to enjoy.

But if this is the type of movie you like, then I'm sure FOOL'S GOLD will more than satisfy your appetite for fun adventure with a hefty appetizer of McConaughey man meat and and some sweet Hudson ass for dessert.

This film is rated PG-13 for action violence, some sexual material, brief nudity and language.
