My ears perked up when I read the words "Violent Femmes."  Then I smiled when I saw the words "New Release", but I had a bit of fear in my heart.  Nowadays, even the back in the day greats have a hard time connecting to their roots and producing something that lives up to why they were great in the first place.

Then I read the Femmes had done a cover of the Gnarls Barkley tune "Crazy."  K, uh, I get it, Gnarls covered "Gone Daddy Gone", so is this going to be a West Coast East Coast thing?  A bunch of musical ego tripping that does nothing to add to the magic of the sound experience?  Hells no!  I just checked it out and it's freakin great!!  In fact, while listening I was happily returned to childhood, like when the song is over there will be another one that follows from another band that is equally good.  When Punk was punk, ska was ska, and New Wave was great no matter how much you tried to deny it.

But I digress, and happily invite you to check out "Crazy" as performed by the Violent Femmes.
