"I don't believe that any NFL player deserves the amount of money that we get. But in this business that we are in, they give us all tags and say this guy is worth this, this guy is worth that. We play a game, a kids' game and get paid a king's ransom. I'm just fortunate to be able to be in this position, and I will make the Bear's organization proud." Damn, this story gets buried, but let some NFL player get arrested for DUI, beating up their spouse/girlfriend, fighting in a nightclub, or be suspended for drugs or steriods, and it is front page news. Yes, some, not all, athletes make exorbitant amounts of money, but consider how much the owners are making off of them, between, merchandising, ticket prices, etc. Outside of his endorsements, Michael Jordan only made a small percentage of what the Chicago Bulls made off of him, and the list continues. In an ideal situation, parents should be the role models for impressionable youth, but under realistic circumstances, Tommie Harris is a pretty damn good alternate. Read
