This is an actual picture of a Tarbosaurus - related to the giant carnivorous Tyrannosaurus - the type of dinosaur that Japanese and Mongolian scientists have just successfully recovered. What's different about this 70-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton is that it is both complete and young.
It was found in a large chunk of sandstone dug up in August, 2006 in the Gobi Desert in Mongolia, and after two years of careful preparatory work, scientists believe this latest find will help them understand the growth and development of dinosaurs.
This baby fossil, is believed to have died at 5 years old, and is about 6.6 feet long. Adults dinosaurs of the species are believed to have been around 40 feet in size.
I'd hate to run into one of those on a dark night!
