It’s well known that British Actors have infiltrated American Movies and TV…..
In general if they keep their English accents it’s almost guaranteed that they are playing a villain. But of course there are the sneaky few that pull off such a convincing American accent that people have no idea that they are in fact British. Take Hugh Laurie, whose American accent in the show House is fabulous!
So is it easier for us Brits to pull of an American accent than you guys an English one? Terrifying memories of Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder’s ridiculous accents in Bram Stocker’s Dracula spring to mind! Apparently it’s not that easy! A poll in the UK found that most English peoples attempts at an US accent fail miserable…… an obvious one is Eddie Izzard in The Riches!
Check out the BBC News Article and listen to professional British voice-over artist Stuart Smith as he shows the world his amazing talent at creating US voices (bottom right of the article). I think I even heard him do Morgan Freeman?!
Iran hanged 29 people at dawn on Sunday after they had been convicted of rape, armed robbery, murder, drug trafficking and other crimes. All were hanged inside Evin prison, north of the capital.
150 people have been executed in Iran so far this year, and International human rights groups have accused Iran of making excessive use of the death penalty, hmmmmmm, well, the US have executed 15 so far this year .....
