Dead Man’s Shoes (2004) a crime thriller directed by Shane Meadows tells the story of Richard (Paddy Considine), a young man who comes home from the army only to find out that his mentally disabled brother, Anthony (Toby Kebbell), has fallen in with the wrong crowd.

A local gang of thugs and drug dealers have preyed upon the boy making his life a living hell for their amusement. Not surprisingly Richard isn’t amused, and seeing how distressed his brother is you realize more has gone on behind the scenes than the plot is revealing.

The acting in this revenge thriller is very believable and the way it is shot sometimes makes you wonder if you are watching a documentary. Bloody good ending, but be careful if you read any other reviews on this as people  tend to spoil it.  Take my word for it and watch it cold.

It’s a British film and some American’s might have an issue with the Northern accents, but once you get into the plot it will definitely keep you engaged.

It’s not surprising why this film was nominated for a BAFTA (Best British Film Award).

Not rated. This movie has not been rated by the MPAA. But there is violence, drugs and sex in it, so I’d say it’s an R
