Alone and in labor, a California woman found the first place she could give birth, her front lawn. The 36-year old was driving home from a day of shopping when her baby decided to arrive six weeks early. So with her 2-year old son sleeping in the back seat, called 911as she arrived at her home, but she had already pushed her daughter out when police arrived. When police arrived they found the new mother standing in the driveway rocking the newborn, who was still attached to the placenta. The baby's daddy arrived in time to cut the baby's umbilical cord under the front-yard ficus tree. Baby Mary Claire was born weighing in at 5 pounds, 11 ounces and both are doing fine. A happy ending for all. Who needs a hospital.
