I don’t know about you but ROM updates to the Centro, the Treo800w and the treo Pro just don’t excite me.  Sure, they are all steps in the right direction for Palm in terms of keeping them afloat, but they do nothing for the Die-Hard Palm fan.  We want the new OS, and although I am a big fan of getting it right, I have lost a bit of confidence that they will be getting it all. After being pushed and pushed, it looks as though the new Palm OS ll (Nova), the linux based Palm OS will be pushed back yet again, to the “first half” of 2009.  Right about then Android will be in full swing, another carrier will be offering the Blackberry Storm or Thunder, whichever the weather looks like on that carrier.

The Blackberry Bold will be in full swing with the Javelin getting it’s legs.  Apple will be ready to announce some new phase in the iPhone and HTC will be making good on its promise to deliver handset with something other than Windows Mobile or Android on it.

Palm will have a good deal of competition against it.  The die hards will still be there, ready and willing to pick up the newest in the Palm lineage, but I find it hard to believe that there will be thrill seekers ready to pony up for the new Palm OS with all that good stuff going on.
