Best Buy was really on to something when they started up their "Geek Squad" because a lot of companies have since followed the path. Now you can add Verizon to that list. The big red carrier is now ready to come to your home and fix all the stuff you can't fix that you just purchased from them.
Is it possible that Verizon will now make it even harder to get their equipment up and running? I wouldn't put it past them.
Dubbed "Expert Care" Verizon will set up three tier plans that involve coming to your home and fixing Software issues and hardware issues 24/7. For $19.99 a month you can get free hardware replacement if your problem can't be fixed.
There will be three new levels of service plans that can be added onto customers' Verizon bills. The "Device Protection" level offers the repair or replacement of PCs, TVs, and phone equipment "regardless of age, size or place of purchase." The service may also cover things like remote controls, keyboards, mice, monitors, and backup batteries for Verizon's FiOS service, and will range from $4.99 to $19.99 per month depending on the equipment. The next tier up, "Premium Technical Support," is a 10-month subscription plan for $14.99 per month that adds phone and online support. This support will cover VPN, firewall, OS, gaming connectivity, software and hardware, and virus and spyware issues. Finally, "Premium Onsite Support" will provide on-site support for things like OS installations to full PC and home network installations for between $99.99 to $249.99, depending on the service. ---arstechnica

I hope everyone feels a bit more at ease now. What did you ever do without it?
