As soon as entertainment companies can put them out, they're out in boxes wrapped in cellophane being sold on the Korean Black Market.  Then the films end up online where they can be downloaded by anyone with a broadband connection.  This is driving the studios crazy.

Now Warner Bros., believes they have a full proof plan to combat this.  They will begin in Korea, if you want the movie, you can get it online before it goes to DVD.

"Korea used to be a very robust video market but we have been hit very hard by piracy," Warner Bros. head Kevin Tsujihara told the Financial Times. "We have high hopes of turning that market around and legitimizing it again... all the ingredients are there."

This action could quickly end up in China, where it is probably more desperately needed.  WB is hoping that folks will want to download the flicks as they become available, which would be well before the DVD launch.  This way when the DVD is launched and copies are made, folks wont buy them because they have already downloaded them, cutting out the black market man.

I'm not sure how sound or logical this is.  I think most will still say, "I'll wait until it shows up on the corner for $15 less."  When it comes to a bargain, most can wait.
