Gu Gu the Panda (not pictured) has struck again.  For the third time since the cute cuddly bear went on display in a Beijing Zoo, a tourist has been attacked by him.  This time a tourist from China’s Anhui province decided that his child’s toy, which had fallen over the 4 foot 7 inch wall (which seems kinda low) had to be retrieved.  It’s hard to call this guy a victim because he jumped over the wall of a Bear cage to get a toy.

But nevertheless, the “victim” was then immediately jumped on after entering the Panda’s home.  Gu Gu locked down on the man’s legs and would not let go until zookeepers pried his jaws open.

The man was then rushed to the hospital where he underwent surgery to save his legs.  The surgery was successful and he is recovering.

Zoo officials are now trying to come up with new ways to deal with Gu Gu. However, in this man’s opinion, I think that it’s humans who really need to learn how to deal with animals, in particular, dangerous animals in captivity and on display.  I can’t understand why there are so many stories of people jumping in with or antagonizing dangerous animals in Zoo dwellings.  If something falls in, go tell a Zookeeper and keep on walking.  I think Gu Gu was well within his rights here.
