This is getting embarrassing.  Can anyone remember when Microsoft had an original idea?  I won’t go on a rant here, but every move they make lately screams of “Johnny come lately” after something Apple has already done successfully.   Now the Redmond company has hired DreamWorks SKG exec David Porter as VP of retail stores to ”create a better PC and Microsoft retail purchase experience.”  

Seeing as how you can go to any electronic store and find just about any PC item you’re looking for, a “Microsoft store” seems to me a gigantic waste of resources like oh let’s say, $300 million in advertising, the bulk of which to Jerry Seinfeld.  

The Apple Store works because you can’t just go anywhere and get Apple products.  What’s going on over there in Redmond?
