Well Windows Mobile fans, your faithful day is here can you believe it?  That promised upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.1 has been announced by Microsoft, this isn’t just another leak of pics for fans to look over, this is the whole Honeycomed kit & caboodle complete with brand new Explorer and easy to get to touchscreen.
Too bad you won’t be able to download it to your phone and enjoy any of the new features until at least Q4 09.  Microsoft says that Windows Mobile 6.5 will not work on any device that is currently on the market, which even though we already knew this, still blows my mind.  It’s like inventing ashtrays before the cigarette. ÂÂ

That’s not entirely true. It will run just fine on current devices such as the HTC Raphael (Touch Pro). Heck – that’s what they used to demo it! However, what has been stated is that there are no plans to offer any upgrades to current devices. So basically you have to go the route of a custom ROM if you want it.
