Hey parents, now your 7-year old girl can put the bulls-eye on the small of Barbie’s back!  Isn’t that special!?  To mark the 50th birthday of Barbie, Mattel is letting her be young again by providing her with some press on tattoos so your child can tat her up, and wouldn’t you just know it, some parents aren’t too happy about this.  Here are some parent quotes:
“Whatever will they bring out next? Drug addict Barbie? Alcoholic Barbie?
“Tattoos are common and if it leads girls to get one, they might regret it for the rest of their lives.
“It is dumbing right down – Barbie should be at the high end of fashion not the chav end,â€Â
I’m waiting for the “Girls gone wild Barbie.”  Sound off, take the poll and tell us what you think

I don’t see why parents care so much about a tattoo barbie. It’s not like children that age are even thinking about getting tattoos, or even KNOW what a tattoo is, unless learned from the parents, or parents failure to protect their children from the disgusting monstrosity known as the media- ASIDE from fake-stick-on-use-water-rub-off-tattoos. Tattoos won’t lead to drug addiction, it’s not like matel is making it a real tattoo of a needle or a gun or even anything slightly offensive. Tattoos are very common, and it’s not like only dirty people get tattoos. People who have VERY respectable careers have tattoos, you just don’t see them. I’m a pre-med undergrad student, and I have tattoos. I CAN understand parents wants to protect their children from turning out like anything but a sweet-innocent little darling, but the world is full of things you people should be A LOT more worried about, instead of toys. Having a tattoo barbie when I was little wouldn’t have made me even think about getting one, because kids are not thinking about those kinds of things, they live in the here-and-now. Try worrying about real problems instead. Also, like I tell everyone who disapproves or dislikes of anything produced, If you don’t like it, you don’t have to buy it.
