slingplayer_iphoneAfter all my talking up SlingMedia and the SlingPlayer as being the greatest thing since Post Toasties, The company had to go and do a bone head move to wreck the greatness that was.  With thousands itching, waiting with bated breath for the SlingPlayer app for the iPhone and iPod Touch to make it’s appearance in the App Store as announced, and the agonizing tease of the stable release for Blackberry (still won’t work with my nor your CDMA carrier), SlingMedia has announced that the box that is good enough for every other phone, isn’t good enough for the iPhone.

I’m calling SHENANIGANS!!!   If you have any other SlingBox besides the Slingbox PRO, Slingbox SOLO or Slingbox PRO-HD, you will not be able to use the app poised to position itself in the App Store.  This is complete and utter bull and I am extremely upset with SlingMedia for taking this kind of money grubbing approach.

This is one of those reason why people are in the streets right now.  Corporate greed.  Yes I know it’s just a gadget, but it’s a great gadget that folks already spent hard earned money on, and waited forever and a day to get it on their favorite mobile device.  Now we find out that for no particular reason other than to milk more money from folks milked to death by AT&T, SlingMedia will be requiring a hardware upgrade to enjoy it.  BULLCRAP!!!

Folks, let your voices be heard!  This is pure greed and a complete slap in the face of loyal, faithful and patient customers.   Might be time for a good old fashion bra burning, SlingBox style.
