A pea sized flaming hot rock from space hit 14-year old Gerrit Blank in the hand. The meteorite hit his hand, bounced off, hit the ground and created a crater a foot long in the ground. A foot long.
At first I just saw a large ball of light, and then I suddenly felt a pain in my hand. Then a split second after that there was an enormous bang like a crash of thunder. The noise that came after the flash of light was so loud that my ears were ringing for hours afterwards. When it hit me it knocked me flying and then was still going fast enough to bury itself into the road.”
The event happened in Essen, Germany, where scientist have studied the rock and confirmed that it was indeed from space. The last known case of a meteorite hitting a human and the human surviving was in November 1954 in Alabama, USA. A grapefruit sized meteor crashed through a house, bounced around and landing on the woman of the house while she slept.
Gerrit Blank is now a SuperHero and will be saving his fellow Germans from sea monsters, mad scientist and cats with fear of heights.
