OUCH!!! In the 90′s, male tennis saw a player –Jeff Tarango, get fined $48,000 for Grand Slam antics that the Grand Slam administrators deemed unfit for tennis competition. Fast forward to 2008, Serena makes it through U.S. Open like she’s playing against a bunch of amateurs. Then she runs into Kim Clijsters in the Semifinals, a match that saw a blind lineswoman with double vision sitting in judgment the two champions. A few really bad calls later and Serena Williams losses her mind, telling the sight deficient judge that a ball would soon be slammed down her throat. Bad, bad move.

Fast forward to Monday the 30th of November. Grand Slam administrator, Bill Babcock has leveled the tennis star with the largest fine in competitive tennis history. Serena has already repaid Bill Babcock’s Tennis administration the sum of $82,500, and that ain’t all. Serena could be suspended from the very next U.S. Open. She is now on probation of sort, if she has any other major outburst at any Grand Slam in 2010-2011, she’ll be hit with increase of $175,000 in monetary fines and barred from playing the following U.S. Open.

Pretty heavy ruling, but it is fair. Right or wrong on the part of lineswoman, Tennis is one of the few remaining clean and respectful sports. I’m a big ‘Williams’ fan, but she went overboard with her outburst. To ensure that other players never feel as though it is safe to go that far, administrators have sent a resonating message. It is not.
