Where else would you expect the very first dope store to open in America? If you said San Francisco then it would be clearly obvious that you’ve never been to Portland Oregon. I’m not sure you can legally live in that city if you don’t at the very least, engage in casual smoking. So it makes since that the ‘Cannabis Cafe’ would open to despite a federal ban, allow card carrying medical marijuana users a place to get high away from public view.

“This club represents personal freedom, finally, for our members,” said Madeline Martinez, Oregon’s executive director of NORML, a group pushing for marijuana legalization. Our plans go beyond serving food and marijuana,” said Martinez. “We hope to have classes, seminars, even a Cannabis Community College, based here to help people learn about growing and other uses for cannabis.” –Reuters

For $25 a month, members can go to the Cannabis Cafe and ease what ails them. The Obama administration has stated that they will be taking a more relaxed policy towards the subject of marijuana use. The Cannabis Cafe will undoubtedly put that statement to the test.
