The Hero comes with Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and it works flawlessly. Setup is just as easy, but I do suggest looking into the Google app suite if you are flexible. I have two other IMAP email accounts, and they can be hit or miss as far as instant push, but nothing horribly slow as of yet. Notification is just as good as the 8330 which I also have, and there is no need of a third party app to make it better. One thing I neglected to state in my review is the "Visual Voicemail." A misnomer because it's not an actual read out, but it delivers voicemail to the device so you can choose to hear it or just delete it, a feature worth it's weight in gold. It's hard for me to admit this, but the Hero is a huge step up from the BB OS, as good and reliable as (in particular) the 8330 is. I haven't really used mine since purchasing the Hero. Hope that helps!@Todd Taylor:

Thanks for the review. I currently have a Curve 8330 and have had it for over 2 yrs. Prior to that had the Nextel 7100 Blackberry. So with that said, after 5 years on blackberry, I have a few questions. Frst, push email on all 4 hof my work accounts none of which are gmail. Plus I do not use gmail.

I use outlook for tasks contacts and calenders, how was the sync with that?

Message notification, is it similar to the blackberry?

I am looking to switch to the hero, may wait for the otterbox to come out first but need the questions answered.

Thanks

The apps actually DO stay open (for a little while, anyways)! Try holding down the home button for a few seconds and a task switcher pops up allowing you to quickly flip back to a different app you opened earlier. I love this trick on my Hero!

The specs are from the HTC website- HTC Hero page. They are the generic specs for the device, not the carrier branded specs. Aside from the Data: Edge-GSM listing, everything listed is exact specifications of the HTC Hero (My own personal Hero) in the Photos. @Poop:
