If you’re wondering if the much advertised Ninja Assassin (#6- $21M) did well, orFantastic Mr. Fox (#9- $10.1M) from director Wes Anderson — the answer is yes, but neither made it to the top 5.  In fact, there is only one new release that made it to the top 5.   The throughly predictable, completely rehashed Robin Williams flick Old Dogs came in at #4 with a 4 day haul of $25M.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon held court for the second week in a row bringing another $42M to the Vampire empire, an empire that now has $231M in it’s coffin.   Sandra Bullock actually has herself a bonafide hit for once.   The Blind Side came in 2nd with $40M over the weekend.   Audiences are still giving Hollywood the license to create more cheesy big budget CGI end of the world flicks, by placing 2012 at #3 and a $18M take.   The forgetful A Christmas Carol brought up the rear at #5, adding another $16M to it’s total.

Up Next:

1 The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009) $42.5M $231M
2 The Blind Side (2009) $40.1M $100M
3 2012 (2009/I) $18M $139M
4 Old Dogs (2009/I) $16.8M $24.1M
5 A Christmas Carol (2009) $16M $105M
