Bamm! Remember way back when, when Uncle Fester, also known as Steve Ballmer, laughed at the idea of a phone made by Apple? Yeah, who’s laughing now Uncle Fester? The iPhone, according to ComScore has taken your number one spot in the USA right from under your tongue out shiny dome.

As can be seen on the chart above, the iPhone has moved past Windows Mobile during a three month survey period that ended in October. This is significant when you consider the amount of devices the Windows Mobile OS runs on, to the one device, one carrier for the iPhone.

RIM is still holding the lead if not widening the gap between itself and Windows Mobile. Surprisingly, the fairly new kid on the block, Android, has inched closer to Symbian, and is poised to overtake Palm which includes both WebOS and Garnet.

ComScore surveys how many devices are in use when tabulating their findings.
