If you made the conscience decision to wait around for the second coming of the EVO, the waiting time is up. This morning Sprint made it official, the EVO Shift 4G is here to deliver more 4G Sprint speeds at a slightly lesser price. Willing participants can check into the Shift 4G and it’s 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 processor for a cool $149. And yes, if you’re counting, the Shift is smaller and less powerful than it’s older brother the HTC EVO 4G. But come January 9th, the Shift will give users Android 2.3 right out of the box. Oh wait, nope, it’s still Froyo. So, ….

Big news for all those Sprint subscribers and those waiting to become one. The famed but illusive HTC EVO of the ‘White’ variety, is now live and available as of yesterday. This is according to an announcement over the twitters. Sprint has released the White version for all those waiting and it can be picked up for the same price as the original, $199 on a new two-year.

I must admit that I was hoping to pick this one up, but alas it was not available so I went with the Black…. And yes, I still love it!

I’ve got some good news and some bad news, and oh yeah, some news that could go either way depending on your willingness to spend a little cash. First the good news. The long awaited, much anitcipated HDMI Dock For The HTC EVO 4G has finally made it to the Sprint accessory counter. This means that interested parties can now dock their EVO’s in a simple high gloss beautiful dock for charging as well as HDMI out for viewing all those HD movies housed on the EVO. The Dock comes equipped with a HDMI Cable and the Docking Station.

The bad news. Unfortunately, the Dock was designed to work with the original battery back cover that comes with the EVO. Odds are, if you own a EVO, you’ve already picked up a larger battery since the original only last about an hour, which means your back cover will not fit in the Dock. Solution, take it off.

Now the news that’s up to you to take how you want. The HDMI Dock For The HTC EVO 4G is going to set you back $39.99, and at the moment Sprint is the only place to pick one up, so that’s the price you’re going to pay.

Yeah this is hot, hot, hot, hot! This one may have slipped past you over the weekend so let’s see if we can’t brighten up your Monday mornin a bit. Word on the Android streets is that a brand new “White” version of the HTC EVO 4G on Sprint is coming to Best Buy this July 11th. As you can see from the slide, if interested you can put down $50 to hold your unit to ensure you get one.

But if you can wait or have to wait, word continues on to say that Sprint will be getting the White version as well, although you’ll have to wait until August 8th. Suddenly I’m really happy I didn’t grab the EVO on launch day.

Alright custom ROM happy Android lovers, it’s time to get rooted. The root situation has been going on since a few days before the device was even launched, and launched it was, with a bug. HTC immediately plugged the bug which broke the root, putting those who had their EVO already rooted soon after taking it out of the box, back at square one.

But those days are behind us, a new Root has been created and it’s all good to go. First you’ll need a HTC EVO 4G. Then go get yourself the toastcfh, get rooted and get to customizing!

This is starting to become a big problem for the HTC EVO and now the Droid Incredible. Both carrier big bad Android handhelds are seeing issues that are making them less than stellar. In the case of the HTC EVO 4G, bad battery, class screen peeling and now unresponsive touchscreens. Verizon Droid Incredible is now too seeing unresponsive touchscreens, and the numbers are growing on both devices.

There has not been any word from either carrier or HTC as to what’s happening or when and if there will be a fix for the nagging issues. No, you’re not alone, I’ve checked out the greater Los Angeles area for the past few days and there isn’t a EVO 4G anywhere to be found. But the drought isn’t confined to LA, seems as though the hot one-day-selling HTC is gone, gone, gone all across these United States. No word has been given yet as to when a new shipment of EVO’s will be in, but something tells me that when they come, they’ll go just as fast.

I guess the only thing to do now is get in line for the iPhone 4.

Before Sprint could even get a one day sellout of the much anticipated HTC EVO 4G, a bug has shown up that prevents owners from writing to that large 8GB storage card that comes with the device. Apparently there is some sort of bug that wont allow the device to see the card as many are finding out on their way home, or wherever they break open the new precious.

But HTC was fast on the case first issuing a statement that there would be a fix soon, then, came the fix. So fear not my storage hungry EVO 4G friends, version 1.32.651.6 is already Jenny on the block. Bad news though, it breaks the root path that you were all ready to install to root your device.

I’m still not happy with the name change, I think the original leak name of ‘Supersonic’ fits the device better, is easier to say, and just plain sounds better. Yesterday we told you that the much anticipated HTC EVO 4G will be available this June 4th. Along with others, there is another way potential buyers can ensure their unit on release day. Best Buy has announced the availability of pre-order for the EVO 4G starting today.

The price is the same, $199 on a brand new 2-year, and the delivery date is the same. But Best Buy does offer a way to stay away from the long lines that could form on June 4th outside Sprint stores across the country.

SWEET!!! After all this time, all the hand ringing, the waiting and guessing games, the truth finally comes to light and we now have all the details on the HTC EVO 4G. The EVO will cost those wanting to purchase it (me) $199 on a brand new 2-year, and can be purchased this coming June 4th. Yeah, that’s next month!

But, I hope you didn’t think all was going to be bagels and orange juice with the EVO. The new high powered HTC will need a a special data contract and you’ll need to pony up an extra $10 a month to use it.

However, whenever you’re on that 4G tower you’ll be able to talk and surf the web at the same time. The front side camera will allow for video chat too, but at the moment it’s unsure what software will be running that feature.

But now we know, we have a month to save up and get prepared to pay that extra $10 a month.

Tick-tock, tick-tock, time marches on, and for those waiting for the Sprint EVO 4G to go on sale, time is crawling on it’s belly. But suddenly it looks as though Radio Shack has the cure for what ails us. A Radio Shack internal website is showing the Shack preparing to post up pre-orders for the mega-phone starting this week.

Sound good? Happy, excited? Of course you are, but here’s what you knew was coming. There is no date and no price. Yeah, still no price. But that could change very quickly so stay tuned.

Start crossing your fingers HTC Hero owners. Early Q2 is about ready to end it’s due date on the Sprint update for the Hero, and as of today, 12:00am, still no update. But thanks to an employee news page on the ever trusty Best Buy presses, we now have ourselves a new date, May 7th.

Basically it looks as though anyone walking into a Best Buy on and after the 7th wanting a Hero, will walk out with a Hero running 2.1. If all this pans out to be correct and real, there will be no OTA of the update for those of us not walking into a Best Buy. The rest of us will have to go either to the Sprint download site, or to HTC for the download.

Of course if the 7th comes and goes with nary a peep from Sprint or HTC, pitchforks, torches and a well controlled mob may be in order.

There are two devices I’m looking forward to this summer, the new iPhone 4G and the Sprint HTC EVO 4G. The latter is more important to me since I’m a Sprint customer and have bought into the Android OS. If you’re anything like me the wait for the EVO is getting harder and harder, and to make matters worse, Sprint just made it harder by coming up with a contest to win a free EVO. Well we still don’t have a when, and we still don’t have a how much, but as you can see from this slide, now we know that Sprint will be carrying accessories for the new lovely HTC EVO 4G– formally known as the HTC Supersonic. Sure, it’s no stretch to find out that there will be accessories sold by Sprint in their stores, but did you know that there will be a HDMI out docking cradle? No, so there.

So you grabbed that lofty HTC HD2 running the sometimes wacky Windows Mobile 6.5. This is one bad mutha-shut yo-mouth, I’m just talkin’ bout EVO 4G! The HTC Supersonic has finally been revealed by Sprint today at CTIA in Las Vegas. It has been revealed with it’s new name being the EVO 4G. Personally I think they should have stuck with Supersonic because it’s cooler, and it better suits the specs this bad boy is sporting.

This will undoubtedly be my next device, there is no question to that. Even if the iPhone where to somehow magically appear on Sprint. Being a happy owner of the HTC Hero has made me a believer in HTC Sense UI and Android. The 4G speeds, 8 megapixel Flash camera, 720 video and the rest make this device, the one to have. Sadly there is no pricing and availability is only given as “This summer,” but if Sprint wants the first real chance anyone has had to date for a very real iPhone killer, they better price it comparably.

Well we’re still at folks. Since late 2009 we’ve been hearing about Android 2.1 coming to Sprint’ HTC Hero and Samsung Moment. In February, Sprint sent a tweet that they were working on it and it would be available sometime in early Q2 2010.

Now the rumors are swirling up that the release will be happening very soon. When I say soon, I mean like the end of March, somewhere around the 26th. But, then there is this memo that is said to be floating around the Sprint offices, that says more information about the update will be available in April. Soooo, which one is it? Who knows. Hopefully it’s the sooner rather than the later.

It’s INCREDIBLE, the HTC Incredible has been outed again. The Verizon device that seems to be the brother/sister of the fabled Sprint Supersonic has been info leaked onto the Android Forums. This is going to be a pretty darn nice handheld, and will most likely end any further sales of the Droid Eris.

Yes, I will be trying this at home! hocking but true, the Android OS has found yet another home, albeit a much smaller one, forcing it to leave some of it’s belongings behind. Some full time geniuses over creating The XDAndroid project, have have some fantastic results getting the Android OS ported onto a HTC Touch Pro 2, which if you don’t know, is a Windows Mobile device. Then word came that it has been loaded onto a HTC Touch Diamond with success. Not all the components are working without flaw, but enough to get the CDMA device up and running with WiFi capability. It’s nice to know that there is now something to fill and entire afternoon with.

T-Mobile has a hot one on it’s hands. Even though it’s sportin’ Windows Mobile 6.5 and there is still no word on if it will be upgradeable to the coming hotness, Windows Phone 7 – the HTC HD2 is too good looking for many to be able to resist.

Now that there are even more, crisp shots of the new device with it’s 4.3 display and Sense UI, the UI that makes any OS look good, those who have decided to wait on the Windows Phone 7 Series will have there patience tested with one glance. Word on the street has it coming to T-Mobile on the 24th of March at a $199 2-year price point. But don’t hold me to that.

Yep, that’s right. In Apple’s quest to become more like Microsoft, or, Applesoft, or dare I say….Microapple? You choose, they’re all beginning to fit nicely. Apple has filed a lawsuit against HTC for at least “20″ copyright infringements.

“We can sit by and watch competitors steal our patented inventions, or we can do something about it. We’ve decided to do something about it,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We think competition is healthy, but competitors should create their own original technology, not steal ours.”

No word yet on what exactly Steve is laying claim to, but we’ll all know soon enough. I get the feeling that this is going to be one of those closely watched lawsuits.

Just exactly is early 2010, early 2010? We’re in the second week of February so I have to assume that early 2010 is right about now. Maybe that’s why the announcement of early 2Q10 has now been made. That’s when Sprints says the the long promised upgrade to the HTC Hero and Samsung moment will be released. Android 2.1 can’t come fast enough for those of us waiting on it, but at least Sprint is keeping up with the Jones’s by releasing updated info. So, we’ve got that.

If this is all true, OTA or in-store upgrade decision is the reason for the wait.

Netherlands’ KPN, seems to have let the cat out of the bag on the new HTC device. Actually, I should say one of them. It wasn’t a sure thing that his was even a real device, but as you can see it is, and it looks good. Not only does the casing have appeal, but onboard looks good as well:

The device will be available in the Netherlands sometime in March, no telling if it will really show up stateside, but let’s hope so.

Sweet! have a look at a video showing off some sweet multitouch action that presumably will be available to the HTC Hero via the 2.1 update. This is just pinch-zoom in the browser, this is completely across UI. Widgets seemingly will be able to take advantage of the pinch and more. Of course we will have to wait and see if this is the real deal or just a hack, but after watching, who cares right!

There are reports nationwide (mostly NY) from Google Nexus One owners that T-Mobile Data is loss on their devices. More accurate, no data connection. It seems that when pulling swapping SIM from Nexus One to another device all is well. This has users, T-Mobile and HTC scratching their heads, no one knows what’s going on here. Hopefully all will get cleared up and there will be an explanation. TODAY.

Magic owners should be feeling pretty please right about now. HTC has finally gotten around to given them a little more ‘Sense’….UI. The update jumps the ROM up to 3.05.401.3.

These things are never ever crisp, clean or sharp, I can tell you from experience, they cause one hell of a stir. And I for one, am all stirred up. The HTC Supersonic that we’ve heard a little about has been captured by the fuzzy cam, or so it seems. This time it’s fantastic news for Sprint customers, which includes yours truly. It looks like the Supersonic will be headed for Sprint with WiMax speed and the other goodies we already heard about.

HTC Touch Pro2 owners have just gotten a shot in the arm from Sprint. To bad they’ll have to wait awhile to feel the effects. It looks like the HTC Touch Pro2 will be getting that Windows Mobile 6.5 update it as so long deserved. But the question is when. There is no date, only a promise of a Q1 delivery, or by the end of said quarter. They are however saying that they will bring it with a touch of Sprint enhancement.

“significant enhancements to the Touch Pro2 user interface which will allow additional customization / personalization options and more integration with the applications users access most.”

Just hang in there people. Sprint’s the last to deliver, but there is an approaching delivery.

I guess the T-Mobile Gods heard the many voices of Windows Mobile fans subscribed to their network. Low and Behold, the HTC HD2 will be a T-Mobile branded device sometime this year! Sorry, there is no word on when (other than Spring) or how much, but for the how much part, don’t expect it to be cheap. Because it won’t be, start your new piggy bank now.

Well, here are, another day, another HTC Android device rumored for 2010! Not exactly sure if these are real or not, but they look pretty legit. These are screenshots of the rumored HTC Espresso. The Italian site HDBLOG.IT, has posted up some pics of the UI from the possible HTC device. Apparently the Espresso will come with a QWERTY Keyboard and these snazzy new icons.

Well there’s no official date as of yet sorry to say, and it looks as though the Sprint HTC Hero won’t be getting the fabled Android 2.1–but according to Sprin’t official Twitter page, 2.0 is coming.

The yellow and black says the the HTC Hero and the Samsung Moment will be up to 2.0 speed by the top half of 2010. This is great news even though we already new from HTC that the Hero was in line for the upgrade. Now we know that Sprint is on it for both devices. Now we just have to sit back and wait. sheesh.

Yes folks, five new beautiful Android devices from HTC are expected to hit the scene next year. The devices are beautiful, each one of them IMHO. There are also 3 Windows Mobile phones due to hit the scene as well. Looks like 2010 is going to be a good year for HTC and Android. That is of course unless you just signed up for two years of your life on a new device. There’s no word on where any of these devices are headed as of yet so don’t go beating yourself over the head just yet. Hit up the link and read all the specs for each devices!

My Hero is only a few months old and already HTC is saying they are working on a new one that will no doubt make your and mine look like a bad buy. Bummer. Oh well, that’s they way the industry rolls right? Patrik Andersson a big wheel suit at HTC says that the company is hard at work on the successor to the HTC Hero and they will be showing it off as early as February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Now we have to wonder if Sprint will get first crack at it or will it be strictly European for six months before any American every touches it. We’ll have to wait for Feb, 2010 before we know anymore.

It’s not Android 2.0, and we all still have our fingers firmly crossed that HTC/Sprint are still working hard to bring the (2) to the Hero. but until that announcement comes we’ve been given a consolation prize, a update to 1.5. Can’t tell you exactly want it does to improve the experience because I’m still downloading (without an actual change-log).

As a newly won over Android fan, I have to say that the HTC Hero is providing me with the most fun I’ve had with a device since the early days of the Treo. Sure, my iPhone is one hell of a device, but the fact that I cannot customize it, spend hours making it look and feel exactly the way “I” want it to, takes a bit of shine off. My Blackberries rock, love em, but there is something to be said for “touchscreen” and the BB Browser is still stuck in 2004. So unless you’re on Verizon and can enjoy the Storm, touchscreen and better browsing are out of reach. The Palm Pre is fantastic, but for whatever reason, it just doesn’t elicit that “loving feeling.”

Because Android is so new and so open there is so much that can be done, and hours go flying by while doing it, and that’s what I love about smartphones! The HTC Hero combines so much that has been great in the industry for a few years now, and leaves room to grow. I will be doing my little write up on my thoughts concerning the Hero, but until then, Engadget has a great piece where they have looked at all three versions of the device. The GSM Hero, Sprint HTC Hero and Verizon DROID Eris (HTC Hero). It’s a pretty good look at what makes all three devices great, and what your missing out on from each carrier unit.
