Those who have not yet made their purchase of a Windows Phone 7 device and are waiting patiently on either the Verizon or Sprint network, good news is coming your way by way of Early March. Microsoft is now saying their latest platform will be available to CDMA carriers in early March. Although there is no word on exactly what device and what carrier will be throwing the first one out, its safe to assume that it will either be Verizon, or Sprint. Given both carriers affinity towards HTC, it could also be assumed that the first device will most likely have an HTC branding on it.

As for those already with Windows Phone 7 in hand, early March will be bringing the first big WP7 update since the new platforms release. The update is said to bring ‘Copy & Paste’ to the OS, ending a familiar call and response in the new handheld/OS world.

So, you only have a few weeks more to wait WP7 fans.

If you were thinking you’re about to get that Dell Venue Pro in the mail you ordered so long ago, don’t pester the mail carrier and go back in the house, because it’s not coming. Dell has announced a delay in the shipping of the Windows Phone 7 handset until sometime January 2011.

There is no word on the exact reason for the delay, but word on the street has whispered problems with this phone for a little while now, so it really is no surprise that this news came the day some expected their Venue’s to arrive.

The scary part now is the unspoken acknowledgment of the bug rumors. Normally this means even when a problem prone device does ship, it ships with issues laying in wait. Let’s hope for all those excited about the Venue Pro, this one is the exception to the rule.

For all those waiting with bated breath for more competition in the mobile OS world, Microsoft has finally come to the table with their offering. You’ve been hearing about it for a few years now. It started with ‘no, we’re not making a Zune-Phone’ to here, have a “Kin.” Then it went quickly to, we’re taking the Kin back, sorry about that. And it has now turned full circle to ‘here, have a Zune-Phone.’

Microsoft is in desparate need of a winner, or even just a “doing pretty good” competitor in the mobile market. the iPhone, Android and Blackberry have all but made the one-time King completely fade from mobile memory. But like all Kings, they crave those days of yore, spend their loyal subjects money, gather a new army, sharpen new swords, and plot on new seemingly weaker lands to conquer.

But are there really any weaker lands for Microsoft to conquer? Can a flashy new OS that is basically a combination of the Android OS and iOS on top of a ZuneHD OS — labeled with a much improved desktop OS logo, really persuade subjects entrenched in the ways of their new modern day “Home Screens”, to lay down their arms and serve a aging desperate kingdom once again?

Obviously the jury is still hearing the case, but come October 31st, they will get the evidence and deliberation will begin.

The first of the brand new handsets will begin rolling out this October 21st in Europe and Asia. U.S. carriers will get their shot the following month, November. There are ten handsets in total, delivered to you by HTC, LG, Dell and Samsung. The hardware will look and feel familiar to you since they are at their core, Android devices tweaked for Microsoft needs.

Bummer dude. You went out and got yourself a Kin the day Verizon announced the price slash. Got it home and set up your whole Kin home page, sent a few Facebook messages, updated your twitter account, then it happened. Your Kin alerted you through a friend on one of your social media sites that Microsoft has killed the Kin. Dang.

No more apps, no more nothing, it’s over, kaput. But you still have a two-year $29 a month data plan to pay for.

Sound confusing? It’s not really. The Microsoft Kin isn’t selling and Verizon has a crap load of them taking up space in stores across the country. The Microsoft phones that offer very little in usability, but demand a lot in monthly cost, need to get up and go so Verizon can make room for devices customers actually want. So to curry demand Big Red has slashed the price to own in half.

Before you get too happy just beware. Although the sticker price has dropped the cost to run them each month is staying the same. You will still need to sign a two-year (a long time to be stuck with either phone) and you will still need to pay up $29 a month to use either Kin.

For years now Mark/Space has been synonymous with the MacOSX. Lately the company has been branching out to include Android, Symbian and Windows Mobile in it’s device syncing, widening it’s reach beyond the Palm community, now that embracing of Microsoft’s mobile software is really paying off for the company.

Microsoft has named Mark/Space as the official software for Kin MacOSX syncing, meaning if you have a Mac and buy a KIN, you’ll need MissingSync from Mark/Space to keep the two in sync.

The wait is over for anyone who couldn’t believe their eyes after seeing the new Microsoft Kin. Two of the newest phone devices (the ones Microsoft said they were not going to make) from Microsoft, will begin their journey into the outside world tomorrow May 6th.

The Kin One will go for $49.99 and the Kin Two for $99.99. You’ll need to get a $30 wireless data plan to use either Kin. Also, those prices are on a two year with a $100 mail-in-rebate, which means when you order be ready for $149 and $199 plus all applicable taxes. But that’s okay, think of all the Facebook-ing you’ll be doing with your new Kin.

Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 owners can now take advantage of ‘Search By Voice’ in Google Maps 4.1.

We understand that typing on phones isn’t as easy or fast as talking into them. As a result, we’re big fans of letting you search in Google Maps for mobile in the most natural way possible — with your voice! Not wanting the BlackBerry and Android folks to have all the fun, today we’re happy to announce Search by voice in Google Maps 4.1 on Windows Mobile and Symbian S60 phones.

Search by voice lets you easily search for anything by simply speaking your search terms instead of typing them. Just open Google Maps, press your phone’s “call” button, and clearly speak your search term like “Park Plaza.” Search by voice works with all the kinds of searches Google Maps for mobile already supports, including places, addresses (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway), specific businesses (The French Laundry), or types of businesses (sushi restaurants new york).

You may also notice a few other additions, including a redesigned settings page with Search by voice language choices. Choose your preferred language from the supported options, including multiple English accents and Mandarin Chinese. Also, if you find a problem with any information in Google Maps, you can use the “Report a problem” option to let us know.

So we know the two new Microsoft Phone series 7 devices are called Kin 1, and Kin 2.

The two devices will let users house data in the clouds, termed as “bottomless” by Microsoft. The devices are really going after the world of Social Networking, building the whole feel around sites like Facebook and twitter. Good idea? Only time will tell. Like or dislike them, Microsoft is boldly going where they said they weren’t going before, phones.

But is it me, or does the hardware look suspiciously like a Palm Pre that has been smashed a little, and one that has been stretched a little?

So you grabbed that lofty HTC HD2 running the sometimes wacky Windows Mobile 6.5. But you were okay with that because you heard and seen all the new goodies coming your way via Windows Phone Series 7. Then Microsoft went and lowered the boom on you, no WPS7 for your precious expensive HTC HD2. Shattered.

But like most things OS, if you wait long enough (not long at all) some brainiac with a lot of time and technical prowess will come along and cook up some sweet hack goodness for you to use. Such is the case for your HD2 and WPS7. Tom Codon has cooked up hack and got new OS up and running on the HD2. He says that almost everything is working fine, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, the Internet, all is good. But speed, not so good. Seems lag time is the biggest issue at the moment. Interested?
